Traffic Engineering
M&S provides a full range of transportation planning. The firm manages and conducts traffic data collection programs including traffic counting utilizing both manual and automated techniques, various origin/destination studies, physical inventory of geometric features, field observations of existing traffic patterns and driver tendencies, and accident data collection.
Utilizing the data collected, M&S can perform a traffic analysis for existing and future conditions as well as an accident analysis. The analyses are performed utilizing the most updated software programs available. Future traffic volumes are developed by utilizing trip generation and considering factors such as economic growth potential, land use (existing and projected), and environmental issues. M&S has provided traffic studies for infrastructure projects including interchange projects, roadway widening, and intersection improvements involving signalization. The studies included analysis of improvement alternatives to determine ways to best satisfy future traffic and safety demands, while mitigating environmental impacts, right-of-way impacts and minimzing cost.
M&S also provides traffic signal design from traffic signal warrant analysis through to final design and construction support services.
